The estate was built in 1818, and it belonged to the Georgian poet and public figure Alexander Chavchavadze. The house-museum is a magnificent example of the rich manor of XIX century, with beautiful terraces, offering spectacular views of the Alazani Valley. The museum is surrounded by a lush park with a chapel. In 1886, Alexander Chavchavadze, deciding to be engaged in winemaking on an industrial scale, built the wine cellars. Thus the oldest winery was founded in Georgia. The winery produces rare wines to this day. Wine cellars, which store 16,000 bottles of the late XIX and beginning of XX centuries, are open to visitors.

Telavi is located in the heart of Kakheti - historical region in the East Georgia. Travelling to Telavi is a tour around amazingly beautiful region, in the world of ancient temples and monasteries, picturesque rivers and valleys, where the sunshine grows amber grapes. Telavi is the center of Georgian winemaking, which is known to be the cult here. Telavi is located in the beautiful Alazani valley, on the slopes of the ridge. The city is situated at an altitude of 490 m above sea level, so the air is fresh and clear. Landscapes of Telavi and its surroundings are very impressive. There are many attractions and beautiful natural sites in Kakheti. The city has preserved medieval fortress (VIII cent.) and in it a variety of buildings including the palace of King Erekle II.

Gremi

Gremi is a 16th-century architectural monument – the royal citadel and the Church of the Archangels – in Kakheti, Georgia. The complex is what has survived from the once flourishing town of Gremi and is located east of the present-day village of the same name in the Kvareli district, 175 kilometers east of Tbilisi, capital of Georgia. Gremi was the capital of the Kingdom of Kakheti in the 16th and 17th centuries. Founded by King Levan of Kakheti, it functioned as a lively trading town on the Silk Road and royal residence until being razed to the ground by the armies of Shah Abbas I of Persia in 1615. The town never regained its past prosperity and the kings of Kakheti transferred their capital to Telavi in the mid-17th century. The town appears to have occupied the area of approximately 40 hectares and to have been composed of three principal parts – the Archangels’ Church complex, the royal residence and the commercial neighborhood.
