Prof.Athina Geronikaki
Athina Geronikaki graduated from Tashkent State University in 1971 and gained the specialty of organic chemist. Since 1971 till 1977 she was a senior researcher the Institute of Chemistry of Natural Products of Uzbek Academy of Science. In 1977 she defended her PhD thesis and received the Ph.D grade in Chemistry (Ph.D, Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry). In 1984 she graduated fro m School of Pharmacy of Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki. From 2006-2013 she is the head of the Head of the Department of Pharm. Chemistry. Since 2010 she is Full Professor of Medicinal Chemistry of School of Pharmacy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. During 2009-2011 she was Vice President of School of Pharmacy of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In July 2013 Prof. Geronikaki was elected as a Full member of Mediterranean Academy of Science and Arts. Her scientific interest is: Chemistry of natural products isolation, determination of structure; Chemistry of biologically active compounds and evaluation of their activity, using different computational methods.
She organized two International conferences: Computational Methods in Toxicology and Pharmacology, Integrating Internet Resources (2003) Thessaloniki; 4th Eurasian Meeting on heterocyclic Chemistry , 2006 , Thessaloniki
Prof. Geronikaki is a Member of organizing committee of more than 20 conferences.
Prof. Geronikaki published 82 papers and made 140 announcements in International conferences
in most cases as invited speaker or plenary lecturer. Published a chapter in . “Targets in Heterocyclic Systems. Chemistry and Properties”
Awarded with medal for development of International collaboration by the Scientific Partnership Foundation, Awarded with Diplom for the investment in development of science and of international collaboration by the Scientific Partnership Foundation.
2013- Awarded with gold medal for the investment in development of science and of international collaboration by the Scientific Partnership Foundation.
