Prof. Hussein El-Kashef
Hussein El-Kashef was born in El-Minia (Egypt) in 1945. He studied at Assiut University-Egypt and got all his degrees from the same university. He received his B.Sc. (special degree in Chemistry with distinction) in 1965, his M.Sc. in 1969 and Ph.D. in 1973.
He obtained another doctorate degree (Docteurès sciences Pharmaceutiques) from the University of Caen-France in 1994.
He was appointed as Assistant of Organic Chemistry at the Faculty of Science, Assiut University in 1965, Assistant lecturer in 1973, Assistant Professor in 1977, and Professor in 1982. He is Professor Emeritus from 2005 till present.
Hussein El-Kashef has been visiting professor at different Universitiesand Institutes:
- University of Caen, France (several times).
- University of Marseille, France (several times).
- University of Strasbourg, France (two times).
- University of Nice – Sophia Antipolis, France.
- University of Clermont–Ferrand I, France.
- University of Ferrara, Italy (several times).
- University of Calabria, Italy.
- University of Tohoku, Japan.
- University of Saarlandes ,Saarbrücken, Germany.
- Kaufmann institute of Lipids, Münster, Germany.
- University of Sana'a, Yemen.
Projects
In addition to other three national projects, Hussein El-Kashef has participated in two international projects:
1- Coordinator of a TEMPUS Project "Professional Master in the Chemistry of Aroma, Fragrance and Cosmetic products, with the partnership of the University of Ferrara (Italy) and the University of Nice (France), January 2003 –April 2008. This project was funded by the European community.
2- Principal investigator of a European project “IMHOTEP ". Preparation of New Nitrilo-Lactones and Their Application in the Domain of Aroma and Perfumes, (July 2007 – July 2009), with the partnership of the University of Nice (France).
He has organized Ibn Sina Conference three times in Luxor-Egypt, and he participated in 55 national and international conferences. He has published about 100 publications.

- Assiut University Prize for Scientific Distinction ( 2001).
- Chevalier dans l'ordre des Palmes Académiques (France, 2004).
- Faculty of Science prize for the research of highest impact factor (2014)
